That translates into an average increase of 14 dollars and 75 cents per month for a residential bill. City Council members agreed to sell raw water to the Quicksand Golf Course through the end of September. The 12 acre feet of water weekly is less than the course requested, but enough to allow play to continue. Council members made some changes to the city’s drought contingency plan, including a reduction in the amount of water that can be used before residents and businesses are charged an excess usage fee. The usage fees were raised, as well, to encourage conservation.

If you're about to put in a new lawn, however, you catch a break: brand new lawns can be watered up to three times a day for the first few days -- but only if you fill out a special landscaping form with the Water Conservation Department. And yes, inspectors are enforcing those Drought Contingency ordinances throughout the city of San Angelo.

Those plates helped produce the nearly 39-thousand dollars in grant money will help reduce the number of unwanted dogs and cats in Tom Green County. The county Humane Society says over nine thousand dogs and cats are put down every year locally, a number that could be significantly reduced by spaying or neutering animals. The grant money will go toward expansion of spay-and-neuter efforts here beginning September first.
