San Angelo City Council members worked on the general fund budget for the next fiscal year, yesterday. The 56.2 million dollar spending plan is almost four and a half percent greater than last year’s budget, reflecting higher sales tax and property tax collections. It includes a one percent property tax cut and raises for city employees that add up to 920-thousand dollars. Wishlist items for the Council are more money for street maintenance and its self funded health insurance program.
