The City of San Angelo is temporarily changing the method of disinfection used in its public water supply, starting today. The Water Department is switching from chloramine, a mixture of ammonia and chlorine, to chlorine only, for about eight weeks. The city says this is a normal procedure for water systems, ensuring water safety and the highest quality of drinking water. Water users might initially notice a "chlorine odor" and slight discoloration. Those symptoms should lessen after the first few weeks and do not affect the safety of the water supply.
