It's been a long time since San Angelo's public school teachers got a raise but that's about to change. San Angelo Independent School District Trustees agreeing to a 15-hundred dollar raise for every teacher in the District as well as for guidance counselors, librarians and school nurses. In addition to the raises for current teachers, the starting salary for new teachers in the San Angelo district will increase to 36,500. That's a 500-dollar hike from the current level. Trustees say it's important to be able to attract quality teachers and retain good ones as teacher salaries in West Texas continue to climb.
