Traffic Stop and Drug Bust
A traffic stop turned into a drug bust in San Angelo. Late Monday evening, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a Chevy Silverado pickup on North Main Street. However the driver did not pull over until he got to East 20th. The driver, identified as 37-year-old Jose Esquivel, was unable to produce a driver's license. When asked if he was in possession of anything illegal, Esquivel removed a small plastic bag that contained a white crystal substance that later field-tested positive for methamphetamine. A search of the suspect also turned up a glass pipe commonly used to smoke meth. Esquivel was arrested Possession of a Controlled Substance.
