Closing the budget gap in San Angelo. City leaders are discussing a number of staff suggestions to bring in revenue and help close the city's one-and-three-quarter-million-dollar budget gap. Among the suggestions: red light cameras at busy intersections that would not only make them safer but bring in revenue from stiff fines; parking meters downtown; and upping the city's franchise fees. None of those options has been decided on yet but they're all under consideration. Mayor Alvin New also saying the City Commission ought to look at more ways of cutting expenses rather than just considering ideas to raise revenue.
