A judge has ruled that the bigamy trial of a former FLDS leader will be held in San Angelo, not in other locations, as defense attorneys has requested. DIstrict Judge Barbara Walther ruling that 71-year-old Wendell Nielsen's trial will take place January 24th at the Tom Green County Courthouse. Nielsen is charged with three counts of bigamy, all of which will be tried at the same time. He rejected an earlier plea deal that would have resulted in ten years of probation because he said he didn't like the terms of the probation. Now, he faces up to ten years in prison on each of the bigamy charges. Neilsen will be the first FLDS leader actually tried on bigamy charges. Nine other former leaders of the religious sect have been prosecuted for sexual assaults on children.
