The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department hosted 11 news conferences at different locations across the state Tuesday, appealing to the public to visit state parks and make donations to help offset a revenue loss caused by heat, drought, wildfires and a resulting drop in park visitor revenue. That's left a four-point-six million dollar gap in the 2012 park system operating budget. Officials say they want to alert people now while there is still time to help.
