The only commercial airline serving San Angelo announced Tuesday that it's filing for bankruptcy protection. But at Mathis Field, airport director Luis Elguezabal said the Chapter 11 filing by American Airlines will have no impact on San Angelo travelers for the time being. American Airlines operates American Eagle, which has four daily San Angelo flights--those could be reduced to three over the winter because of fewer people flying. The bankruptcy has put on hold American Airlines plans to spin off American Eagle.
