The Texas Forest Service's Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Fund is growing. The fund was started to provide money for rural fire departments whose resources were hit hard by the wave of devastating wildfires that roared through many areas of the Lone Star State over the summer and early fall. Now, the Forest Service says Land O' Lakes through its corporate foundation is donating ten thousand dollars to the fund. Volunteer fire departments were the first line of defense as wildfires hammered tens of thousands of acres for over six months.
