Fears that a recent wave of cutbacks in civilian workers at U-S air bases would affect Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo have become reality. The Air Force today says that about fifty of Goodfellow's seven hundred civilian employees will be let go under a major belt-tightening by the armed forces. Across Texas, military installations from all branches of the service are reportedly losing 358 civilian positions. Last week the Air Force announced the elimination of about 9,000 jobs to keep the civilian workforce from growing above 2010 levels and to allow the addition of the top-priority positions in other areas, according to the Department of Defense.
