Eliminate Burns When Frying Turkey

If you're the kind of chef who likes to fry their Thanksgiving turkey instead of bake or roast it, the San Angelo Fire Department says you need to be careful -- really careful. Several people receive burns every Thanksgiving, some of them serious, because they don't take extra precautions when frying turkeys. The Fire Department says the most important thing to remember is, before you set the turkey into that pot of red-hot oil on the grill, turn off the flame. By turning off the flame before putting the turkey in the pot, you eliminate any chance of a flame-up due to oil spills. Concho Valley first responders say that's what causes many burns and ruins many Thanksgiving celebrations.
