This Thursday is Winter Weather Awareness Day in Texas, as designated by the National Weather Service, the state Division of Emergency Management and the state Department of Public Safety. Residents are reminded that parts of West Central Texas have been crippled by blizzards the past two years. You are encouraged to have a plan of action: prepare before a winter storm, check the forecast before traveling, monitor temperatures, travel according to highway conditions and have a way to receive warnings.
