Two people were killed and another injured in a two-vehicle head-on crash occurring on U.S. 83, about three miles north of Menard in Menard County. It happened shortly before noon on Saturday. The DPS indentified the fatalities as 69-year-old David Lloyd Fondersmith and 62-year-old Connie Ayers Fondersmith, both of Menard. The collission occurred as David Fondersmith, headed northbound, attempted to avoid a southbound car that had drifted into his lane. Fatigue is suspected as the cause.
