San Angelo embraced water conservation in 2013. According to figures from the city, residents and businesses used four-point-six billion gallons of water compared to more than five-point-one billion in 2012. It was a difference of 570 million gallons. Or, put another way, San Angelo used just over 14-thousand acre-feet of water last year compared to almost 16-thousand the prior year. Each acre-foot equals more than 325-thousand gallons.
