A burn ban that was lifted just over 48 hours ago is back in effect in Tom Green County today. County Commissioners reinstating a ban and an emergency disaster declaration due to forecasts of more hot and dry weather this week as well as wind picking up from the southwest. Commissioners had lifted a ban that had been in effect for some time effective last Saturday night after flooding in San Angelo last weekend.
Among other things, no trash burning, no open burning of any kind and if you're going to fire up the grill, use propane or white gas only. Certain other types of burns are permitted with the supervision of a fire department. The new burn ban and disaster declaration in effect in Tom Green County immediately and until further notice.
