Congressmen Battle Proposed Defense Spending Cuts

West Texas Congressional representatives are trying to walk the fine line between across-the-board cuts in federal government spending and keeping defense funds from drying up. They're especially concerned about jobs and spending at facilities like Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, where some civilian jobs have already been axed for the new year. The idea is to avoid across-the-board cuts and find specific savings that would accomplish the same thing instead. Congressmen Mac Thornberry and Mike Conaway say they're trying to buy time in order to ferret out those spending cuts before blanket cuts go into effect.
