Less than half of Texas remains in the so-called Exceptional Drought stage following rain in several areas of the state recently. The U-S Drought Monitor Map shows forty-three percent of the state is still in the Exceptional Drought stage -- but that's well down from the nearly eighty-eight percent of the state that was in that classification in October.
