Council Approves Redistricting Plan

The San Angelo City Council today unanimously approved a third redistricting proposal, one that represents a compromise over distribution of the city's minority populations. Objections had been raised to earlier plans, one of which allegedly favored African-Americans and the other, Hispanics. The plan approved today was hailed by representatives of both communities as a solid compromise. The move came during a special public hearing at the Council's first meeting since it considered the two earlier proposals in November.
