Tighter Water Restrictions To Go Into Effect

San Angelo is moving into a higher level of water restriction soon as effects from the prolonged drought continue to be felt. Beginning May first, the San Angelo City Council is ordering Drought Level Two into effect. Among other things, that will restrict lawn watering to once per week and then not between the hours of noon and six P-M. It will also impose a higher surcharge on city homeowners who use more than ten thousand gallons of water per month. Higher surcharges, too, for parks, schools, cemeteries and golf courses. The higher drought level was put into effect after city Water Utilities Director Will Wilde told the Council that as of now, San Angelo has less than eighteen months of water available.
