Tom Green Initiates Burn Ban

A new open burning ban in effect in Tom Green County. The Count Board of Commissioners Court approving a ninety-day ban that primarily affects people living out in the county who want to burn trash. That's forbidden now. Certain prescribed burns, such as for agriculture, are still okay although fire officials urge you to let the county communications center know when you're going to do a burn so there will be no false alarms. Despite the burn ban, you can still have a careful amount of combustible fun. Propane gas grills are okay and, so far at least, so are fireworks for the Fourth.
