Afternoon sports headlines

The Spurs have evened the series with the Grizzlies after a win last night. The Mavericks take on Portland tonight, trying to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.

A lightning strike at the ASU Softball Complex caused a three-hour delay and cancellation of the second game of a doubleheader yesterday, but the Belles did manage to sneak in a 4 to 3 win over St. Mary's. The Belles are home tonight against Abilene Christian, with a double header against them tomorrow.

Hoops for Hunger is happening next Saturday, April 30th. It's a double-elimination, 3-on-3 charity basketball tournament, and 100 percent of the proceeds go to Meals for the Elderly. It's from 9-5 at Kirby Park next Saturday, but the registration deadline is Monday. You can register at Stott's Chiropractic, or www.stottschiro.com

The San Angelo Colts are holding a press conference this afternoon to announce the signing of two more players, both formerly of Angelo State.
