The State Comptroller’s office estimates it’s cost one point eight million dollars to try and repair the damage from the security breach last left personal information, including names and social security numbers, vulnerable online. Three point five million Texans had those details accessible to the public for more than a year. Letters went out to all who were affected, a call center for questions was set up, and two different information technology consultants have been consulted, since the error came to light.
