SAISD: Sick Days and Speakers

The School Board met last night and tightened up the rules for public forums. Anyone who wants to address the board must now fill out a form before the meeting begins and limit their remarks to five minutes.
Board members also voted to set a limit on the attendance incentive for school workers. The employees who work every scheduled day can accumulate local and state sick days, and there never used to be a limit, but now you can’t rack up more than 80 days. Anyone who has more than that is frozen at that amount, now.
Also, seven district teachers who were hired with federal stimulus funds had their contracts extended for the 2011-2012 school year.
