Latest on the Wildcat Fire

Fire Crews are still working on the Wildcat Fire. It’s burning in the area of March and Sutton Roads. There are no mandatory evacuations, at this time, but some houses have been evacuated voluntarily. The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office says they have had to shut down the road near March and Wren, mainly because so many people are driving out to look at the fire. They ask that people please stay clear of the area to allow the firefighters to do their work and also for safety reasons. If you have livestock you’re concerned about, you can take them to the Fairgrounds.
The blaze started near Robert Lee and was considered 60 percent contained, yesterday, but high winds, last night blew it South and into the county. It’s still moving South South East. The Salvation Army is on the scene and would appreciate donations of drinks and food, so they can keep the volunteer fire crews fueled in the effort.
