A former San Angelo police officer killed on duty early today. Reports say officer Jaime Padron, an officer in Austin after several years on the San Angelo police department, was ambushed while responding to an early-morning call concerning a drunk man inside a Walmart store. Reports say the suspect attacked Padron as he arrived at the store and that the officer never had a chance to draw his weapon. The suspect was tackled and captured by two Walmart employees and is now in custody. Reports say the entire incident was captured on the store's surveillance camera system.
