Christoval Teen Killed In Crash

Shock and mourning in Christoval today after a deadly crash that killed a high school athlete and injured two others. A Christoval teen died and two others were injured in a crash south of San Angelo. Officers say 17-year-old Gavino Madrid was killed when an S-U-V in which he was riding collided with a semi at Ganado Drive and U-S 277 near Christoval. Madrid's brother Pete and the driver of the S-U-V, 16-year-old Cheyanne Peterman, were both injured. None were wearing seatbelts. All three teens reportedly students at Christoval High School. State troopers say the cause of teh crash was failure to yield by the S-U-V, which apparently pulled into the path of the oncoming truck. The semi driver was not injured.
