Drought Eases

Technically, we're still in a drought -- but it's a lot better than it was. Heavy rainfall this spring has dumped more water on the Concho Valley than at in any spring since 1923 and crop experts say there's now enough water in the soil for cotton planting. Forecasters say that while ground water is looking far better than last spring, the area's lakes and other water catchments are still low. Even so, they say that even if there isn't another drop of water until the end of May, the Valley will at least be at normal average for spring rainfall.
