A San Angelo police officer died Friday morning after being shot while working for the police department in Austin. Jamie Padron responded to a disturbance call at a Wal-Mart in north Austin, arriving to find a suspect with a semi-automatic handgun who police say shot the officer at point blank range. Padron -- who grew up in Knickerbocker -- worked on the San Angelo police force 14 years.
