ASU football opens season tonight

Angelo State's football team opens the season tonight at home against Black Hills State. The game kicks off at seven o'clock. This marks the first time the Rams have played on a Thursday in six years.

Also tonight on the Angelo State scoreboard, the cross country team opens its season in Wichita Falls at the Strohman Dental Stampede. The women's Four-K starts at seven o'clock with the men's Six-K starting at seven-thirty. They run out of the Greater Wichita Falls Soccer Association Fields next to Memorial Stadium.

One more A-S-U note for tonight: Women's soccer visits New Mexico Highlands at seven o'clock.

The Texas Rangers gave up six runs in the sixth inning yesterday in Oakland and lost to the A's eleven to four. The result ties the A's with the Rangers for first place in the American League West, although both teams remain well ahead of the wild card cutline. The Rangers visit the Los Angeles Angels tonight at nine-oh-five.

In Houston, Trevor Crowe singled home Jonathan Villar in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Astros over the Minnesota Twins six to five last night. The Astros now travel to Cleveland to take on the Indians tonight at six-oh-five.
