Rep. Darby on the Latest Budget

In Austin, the House Appropriations Committee voted to take three point one billion dollars out of the Rainy Day Fund to cover a deficit in the current budget, which ends in August. Governor Rick Perry says he’ll approve that plan, but lawmakers must now write the next budget without touching the remaining balance in the fund. Republican Representative Drew Darby says it’s going to be tough, because they’re about 23 billion dollars short, if services continue at existing levels. So, that means cuts.
