Afternoon sports headlines

In high school basketball: for the second year in a row, Bronte made it to the 1-A Division-2 state championship game and came up short. The Longhorns lost, this time to Paducah, 45 to 30 on Saturday night. But it was a great season, with a 33-4 record and their fourth runner-up finish in school history.

It was a championship weekend for Angelo State's Andria Nussey. Running her last race as a member of the Angelo State track and field team, Nussey won the 800, and claimed ASU's first ever individual indoor track and field National Championship at the Albuquerque Convention Center Saturday.

In spring baseball the Texas Rangers are taking on the LA Dodgers this afternoon. It's the debut for the Rangers newest acquisition, Adrian Beltre. He has missed all of the spring games so far with a calf strain. The Astros are hosting the Phillies in Florida.
