Child abandonment arrests

Late Tuesday night, San Angelo Police were called to the San Angelo Lodge on West Beauregard where occupants at the location found an infant at the top of a stairway. Near the same time, a second call came in regarding a toddler who was in the roadway of the 1700 block of West Harris Avenue. It turned out that the infant, a nine-month-old female and the toddler, a three-year-old boy, were siblings. Police arrested 24-year-old Lyndan McMullan of San Angelo, who was found asleep in a room at the San Angelo Lodge, and 23-year-old Susan R. Schafer of San Angelo. Both were charged with two counts of abandoning and endangering a child criminal negligence and McMullan was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Child Protective Services took custody of the children.
