Elementary school security

Security has been provided for years at secondary schools in San Angelo; as of this week, that's been added to the district's 17 elementary schools. San Angelo police will randomly monitor and visit elementary schools all day, five days a week. Police Chief Tim Vasquez says the goal is to prevent a Newtown, Connecticut-type incident. The increased security at elementary schools will continue the rest of this school year and into next fall.
