SAFD oilfield traning

San Angelo Fire Department firefighters completed a training course last week on oilfield hazards and injuries. That is in anticipation of increased oilfield activity resulting from production of the Cline Shale, a massive formation east of the Midland Basin that reportedly holds 30-billion barrels of recoverable oil. San Angelo officials have begun planning how increased oilfield activity might affect the community on a number of fronts, including housing, economic development, workforce availability, education and public safety.
