Be Safe. Drive Smart.

A new statewide campaign hopes to raise awareness about work zone crashes. Tex-DOT has unveiled "Be Safe. Drive Smart," encouraging drivers to put down their cell phones, slow down and pay attention in work zones. A new survey found there were over 16-thousand crashes in construction and maintenance zones in Texas last year, resulting in 134 fatalities. The survey also found that, in the past year, vehicles crashed into 45-percent of the state's highway construction zones.
