Traffic stop, drug bust

A San Angelo police traffic stop turned into a drug bust over the weekend. Late Sunday night, an officer attempted to pull over a Chevy pickup for a traffic violation on North Chadbourne, but the truck did not stop. The officer activated his siren and the vehicle eventually pulled over on Volney Street. Police say the driver, identified as 42-year-old Charlie McDonnell of San Angelo, said he did not stop because he knew his driver's license was suspended. It also turned out that McDonnell had an outstanding arrest warrant for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. And a search of the vehicle turned up methamphetamine. McDonnell was arrested for the warrant and various other charges.
