Garage burglaries

San Angelo police say they've received several reports of vehicle and garage burglaries in the Southland Area. In one incident, thieves stole a garage door opener from an unlocked vehicle to gain entry into a garage. In another incident a few blocks from this, thieves entered a garage that was left open. As of Thursday morning, seven victims have been located all within a few blocks. Among the stolen items: a handgun, computer, iPod, boat battery, and lawn equipment. San Angelo police are asking that you shut your garage anytime you cannot visually see it; even if it is only for a few minutes. It only takes a couple of minutes or even less for thieves to take items often of high value from a garage.
