New pope

The world continues to react to the historic election of Pope Francis. Cardinals gathered at the Vatican surprised many Wednesday by electing Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina. It's the first time the leader of the Roman Catholic Church has come from Latin America. It's also the first time a Jesuit has been named Pontiff. In San Angelo, the leader of the Catholic Diocese says he's "thrilled" with the selection. Bishop Michael Pfeiffer told KLST that taking the name of St. Francis indicates the new pope will show great concern for the poor and the needy of the world. Bishop Pfeiffer said he's looking forward to meeting Pope Francis when he attends World Youth Day this July in Brazil.
