Collision sends one man to hospital

A 30-year-old San Angelo man was sent to Shannon Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening after a two-vehicle crash shortly before 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Lino Borrego, driving a Honda Accord, was waiting at a stop sign at Clare Street to turn onto Sherwood Way when a Buick Century headed east on Sherwood Way jumped the curb and collided with the Honda.

The impact sent the Honda spinning into the front yard of a house, and the Buick traveled several feet before stopping to the side of Sherwood Way.

Officer Ed Hunger, who was at the scene, said the driver of the Buick, San Angelo man Alex Cano, 65, said the car had mechanical problems that caused it to veer off the road.

Hunger said Cano will be cited for unsafe speed.
