San Angelo' sCommunity and Economic Development Department has submitted a nearly one-point-two million dollar grant application to the Texas Department of Transportation. If funded, the grant will pay for 36 miles of bike lanes, 15 bike racks, 493 street trees along roadways downtown and in north San Angelo, and more than 156 benches and trash cans in the Central Business District. The city says the application is the product of hundreds of man-hours from City staff, Downtown San Angelo, Incorporated, numerous partnering agencies and organizations, with approval by the City Council and Metropolitan Planning Organization.
