One person killed in 2-vehicle crash

All four occupants of a two-vehicle crash involving alcohol were transported to Shannon Medical Center, one of whom was pronounced dead shortly after arrival Wednesday night.

The crash was reported about 11:05 p.m. in the 3100 block of West Houston Harte Frontage Road.

There were two occupants in each vehicle, said Lt. Mike Hernandez with the San Angelo Police Department.

One of the vehicles was traveling east at high speed on Houston Harte Frontage Road when it collided with the other vehicle, which was exiting a private driveway, the SAPD release states.

Alcohol and speed both appeared to be contributing factors in the crash, Hernandez said.

Officials have not released the names of the occupants or vehicle models because the case still is under investigation.

Next of kin to the deceased, residents of Coke County, were notified Thursday by the county sheriff's office, Hernandez said.

A mandatory blood draw was performed on the driver of the first vehicle.

No further information has been given.

According to the release, the on-call traffic investigator and crime scene unit were called to the scene because it was a major collision.

Officer Ed Hunger with the SAPD is leading the investigation.

Officials will release more information as the investigation progresses.
