Bobcat Hall of Fame to honor two local legends

The quarterback of Central's 1966 state championship team heads to the Hall of Fame. Gary Mullins will be back in San Angelo this weekend for the official induction. That 1966 team has already been inducted, and this time Mullins goes in individually.

The quarterback who led San Angelo to a state championship in 1943 heads to the Hall of Fame too. Milton "Mickey" Rathbone played in the days of leather helmets and no facemasks and he led the team to a 14-0 record. He'll be honored Saturday at the Bobcat Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.

In high school baseball Tuesday, Lake View dropped a pair to visiting Big Spring, 6 to 2 and 5 to 3. Central opened district play at home and got blanked by Abilene High, four-nothing.

The Dallas Cowboys have released cornerback Terrence Newman. Cuts by the Texans include backup quarterback Matt Leinart.
