Drought losses

Texas' estimated agricultural losses due to the drought are now more than seven-point-six-billion-dollars, the costliest in state history. Livestock losses account for more than than three-billion-dollars, while cotton lost more than two-billion. Texas AgriLife Extension Service economists say millions of acres of Texas crops never even received enough rain to germinate the planting seed.
