Afternoon sports headlines

The Dallas Mavericks have the first NBA title in franchise history, It came with a 4-2 series win over the Miami Heat. Dirk Nowitzki was named MVP and has that championship to go with a great career.

The San Angelo Colts had a much better time against the White Wings this weekend. After losing a series to them last week at Harlingen, the Colts won all three games this weekend and will try to complete a four-game sweep tonight.

The Rangers have a day off in New York today as they get ready to play the Yankees tomorrow. What's Josh Hamilton doing with a day off in New York? Watch for him on the David Letterman show tonight.

The annual Angelo Football Clinic is happening this week. The golf tournament in honor of former SAISD athletic director, Doug McCutchen is tomorrow at Bentwood Country Club. All proceeds go toward athletics at SAISD, and many coaches from across the state will play honor of McCutchen who died in February.
