Wildfires Update: Power Out in Maryneal

The Texas Forest Service reports the Wilson Ranch Wildfire is contained. Over four thousand acres burned, but crews are just mopping up. In Coke and Nolan counties, though, the White Hat wildfire is causing more problems. Nearly 71-thousand acres have burned. It’s reported to be 65-percent contained. But, there are still voluntary evacuations around the community of Maryneal. The fire is just four miles south of there. And, a power substation received heavy damage, since yesterday, and thousands of people are without power. The Forest Service says eight homes, eight outbuildings and three vehicles were destroyed. They’re using heavy airtankers to drop suppressant on the fire, trying to prevent any more property damage.
