Polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs is still scheduled to be tried on charges of sexual assault of a child and bigamy on July 25th. He was in court today. State District Judge John Hyde of Midland denied a motion by Jeffs’ attorney to remove 51st District Judge Barbara Walther from the case. That ruling allowed his pre-trial motion hearing to proceed. Jeffs’ attorney wants more time to prepare to represent the head of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
