Afternoon sports headlines

The San Angelo Colts saw their four-game losing streak come to an end at home last night in a 6 to 4 loss to Edinburg. The Colts and Roadrunners play again tonight at 7:05.

A former member of the Angelo State baseball team makes his major league debut today. 24-year-old Zach Stewart, who also played for Texas Tech, will be the starting pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays as they host the Baltimore Orioles.

After wrapping up this series with the Yankees today, the Rangers have one more road series before heading back home. This one is in Atlanta this weekend and marks the end of a 10-game road trip for Texas. After today's matinee with the Pirates, the Astros head to LA to face the Dodgers.


The Dallas Mavericks just celebrated their first NBA title this morning along with a couple hundred thousand of their closest friends in the victory parade. It's been a week long celebration since winning the title over Miami Sunday night. Guard DeShawn Stevenson was was arrested Tuesday night in Irving for public intoxication.
