Tom Green County Commissioners keep working their way through the budget process. Last year at this time, they were looking at a one million dollar shortfall. This year, the gap between projected expenses and revenues is around 200-thousand dollars. Big ticket items up for discussion, this week, were health insurance, which costs the county around 900-thousand dollars, and the Stephens Central Library, mainly because of a big drop in state funding.
