Trustees of the Christoval Independent School District voted this week to allow qualified school employees to carry handguns on campus. Christoval superintendent David Watkins said this was a necessary step to protect the student body and the faculty, pointing out that being a rural school, it would take several minutes for law enforcement to respond to a shooting.
